Jack is 21 and joined the Scottish Liberal Democrats just after the EU Referendum. He got involved with the party in Paisley, where he studied Society Politics & Policy at the University of the West of Scotland. Jack joined the party not just because of its pro EU stance, but also it's position on a federal UK, and on tackling climate change.
Campaigning for Cllr Eileen McCartin, Jack got a real sense of what it meant to be a local politician. People care about what happens in their local community, and not to mention potholes in the road! He stood first for council in 2017 in Paisley Northwest ward, and in the 2019 General Election in Paisley & Renfrewshire South. In this election, Jack managed to more than double the party's share of the vote.
Jack is a keen campaigner for the party, and if elected will champion social justice and work hard to ensure good mental health services, a strong economy post-COVID that young people can be confident of work in, and real action on tackling the climate crisis.
