Ben Lawrie

Ben is a long-time mental health campaigner, was born in Dundee and raised in Monifieth, Angus, where he went to school. He then completed an HNC in Social Sciences at Dundee & Angus College.

Ben went on to earn a degree in International Relations from the University of St. Andrews. He is now an Angus Councillor and a Peer Worker for a mental health charity. At 25 years old, Ben is Scotland’s youngest Liberal Democrat Councillor having been elected to represent the Monifieth & Sidlaw Ward when he was 22.

His priorities are improving mental health across our communities, championing a green recovery from the pandemic and making the case for a Federal UK as the “third way” alternative for those fed up with the choice of economically disastrous independence or a clearly indefensible status quo.”
